What’s On the Docket for Judge Jeanne T. Covert (Ret.)?

Recently joined with Weir LLP, Judge Jeanne T. Covert (Ret.) is keeping a busy schedule while providing Alternative Dispute Resolution services as Of Counsel to the Firm.

What’s On Her Docket

Judge Covert recently served as a panelist on the topic of succession planning for attorneys – which was the subject of the Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland Vicinage Professionalism Day Seminar in NJ this past November.  She developed background in this area while active and serving on the NJ Supreme Court Committee on attorney wellness.  The event included three other distinguished participants and was well received by a robust audience at the new Salem County Courthouse; the event was also broadcast virtually to an even wider group of attorneys in the Vicinage.

On December 8th, she was a panelist for the Burlington County Bar’s Mediation Practice Committee, which she co-chairs, delivering a seminar, along with two other stellar lecturers on Mediation practice for attorneys. The Seminar covered multiple areas of the discipline and audience members were active in the give and take discussion which received good reviews as a learning tool for both mediators and counsel who prepare their cases for resolution.

Judge Covert, A.J.S.C., Ret. was also recently appointed by Stuart Rabner, Chief Justice of the NJ Supreme Court, to the N.J. Council on Local Mandates as a panel member to replace Retired Judge John Sweeney, who has served with distinction in this role for several years.  The Council consists of 9 members and has the exclusive authority to rule that a state law, rule, or regulation imposes an unconstitutional “unfunded mandate” on boards of education, counties, or municipalities.  Her term will begin on February 1, 2026.

She will also be participating as a panelist for the Camden County Bar Association sponsored event for women in the law, scheduled to take place in March to celebrate Women’s history month.  It should be an exciting time, and several female speakers will share their stories and experiences with a new generation of talented attorneys.
