PHILADELPHIA, PA. June 23, 2014: Greenblatt, Pierce, Engle, Funt & Flores, LLC, is pleased to announce that Ashley E. Shapiro has become an associate with the firm. She will practice out of both the firm’s Philadelphia, PA and Haddonfield, NJ offices. Her practice concentrates on the areas of White Collar Criminal Defense & Corporate Investigations as well as Federal, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania Criminal Defense matters. Ms. Shapiro works directly with Michael J. Engle, the chair of WGP’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Corporate Investigations practice as well as with Leonard S. Baker, Director of WGP’s New Jersey office.
Ms. Shapiro has successfully represented clients in federal and state criminal proceedings in both adult and juvenile courts. These cases have involved various types of criminal offenses, including, but not limited to, bankruptcy fraud, fraudulent appraisals, tax crimes, structuring, embezzlement, theft, weapons offenses, drug crimes, robbery, burglary and aggravated assaults. Ms. Shapiro has extensive experience in handling bail motions, plea negotiations, sentencing hearings, suppression motions, and trials. She has also assisted with numerous forfeiture matters related to large criminal cases. Ms. Shapiro has effectively defended Driving Under the Influence matters, possession of controlled substances, theft, and other misdemeanor charges in the Philadelphia Municipal Court system. Similarly, in the many NJ Municipal Courts, Ms. Shapiro has represented defendants in DWI matters, shoplifting cases, drug crimes, and other disorderly-related offenses. In addition, Ms. Shapiro has significant legal research and writing experience, having handled complex legal arguments at the trial court level and on appeal to courts such as the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Ms. Shapiro was born and raised in Ventnor, New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida (cum laude, 2005), where she was a scholar-athlete who double majored in Psychology and Legal Studies while a four-year member of the Division I Women’s Varsity Rowing team. She received her law degree from Florida A&M University (cum laude, 2008) and an LL.M in Trial Advocacy from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2011. She is active in the Camden County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL).
